Information regarding thie sighting taken from a letter of Oscar
Nomnig addressed to Mr A, Schroeder of Adilene, Texas, in regard
to Mr Schroeder's query regarding a phenomena he vftne ed the
night of 1 Jan 48 at approximately 1125 A. M, and agin at 1:30
A. K.
Odject wis described as a fem-shaped glow woich originatud from
large bell on the horizon and wich exteniod to the meridian due
west of Abilene, Texas, in perfectly clear sky, Phenomena «is
of 2 seconis duration, Five mimtes later it ws seen again for
the same length of time. Bo sound was heard,
Mr Monnig thought the phenomena could possibly be attributed to:
(1) Disturbance of an olectrie:1 sy uch ss transforzers
blowing out, or
(2) Bxperiments at White Senis Proving Grouncs wich are due
west of Abithe,
Nove: Inquiry at Holloman Ai Base, ALanagordo, N. é.,
revealed that research work at night and on
sundays does not involve the use of any 11, shting
tevice or flares such as described in the va ious
