Altnougn the FBI isn’t saying what the charges are, Lamo said he thinks he'll be allowed to know the charges before he turns himself in. He expects the charges to be reasonable and he said he'll defend himself rigorously. “This will not be a slam-dunk prosecution,” Lamo said. “[But] I'm worried. | don’t know what's going to happen.” Lamo said he didn't know if he would be arrested immediately after he got off the phone. “It's a shame it had to come to this,” he said. “I intend to show that this sort of thing can’t be seen as a deterrent. i've done things that people see as illegal and probably are illegal, but | don’t think I've done anything wrong.” “| don't think things happen by accident. | don’t think that I've done anything wrong. | don't think the F8I is doing anything wrong," he said Lamo said he was going to a safe place to review his legal options after he had talked with us, although his lawyer has advised him to turn himseif in as soon as humanly possible. Lamo also said he intends to answer for his actions. lf the FBI refuses to show him the charges, he'll continue to negotiate as a reasonable person, he said.
