6-147 0613-81) CRIMINAL .W VESTIGATIVE DIVISION INFORMATIVE NOTE Date 2/2/81 Re: ATKID By attached teletype, Atlanta advises that ion Friday morning, 1/30/81, a meeting was held in the Office of Maynard Jackson, Mayor, Atlanta, Georgia. In addition to Mayor Jackson, Mumerous city officials of Atlanta were present as well as Acting Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Renfrew and Ken Starr, Counsel to the Attorney General. Pt the outset, Mayor Jackson indicated his pleasure with the cooperation he has received to date from the FEI toward solution of this investigation; however, Mayor Jackson requested assistance through the Federal Government in other areas relating to this investigation. He cited the areas of crime prevention, mental health, and funding of equipment as those areas in which he recuests Federal Government assistance. Acting DAG Renfrew informed the group that he was in Atlanta at the request of President Reagan and sees himself as a conduit for infor- mation which will be passed on to the Attorney General and subsequently, to other appropriate officials.
