Clover: The Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights has asked me to respond to your letter of August 19, 1982 concerning the investigation into the matter of the missing and murdered children in Atlanta. As you know, the Task Force which investhated this offense was made up of State and Pederal agents. You may be sure that all the evidence was carefully evaluated to determine whether violations of State or Peteral statutes existed. After careful exarination of the evidence, Pederal authorities concluded that no viclations of the Federal criminal statutes could be established in any of thé cases handled by the Task Force. ‘We are referring your letter to the PBI in Atlanta , for consideration of the new evidence which you have brought ji to our attention.
