Monmioa, Califordiea, after explaining that ea request had been made for a.
microphone surveillance on RUTH BERLAD and that certain technical surveillances,
dnoluding the one on BERT BRECET, could be rum to such @ plant st a sonsidereble
seving to the Bureau.
Reference is finally made to the Bureau's teletype dated April 26,
1945, referring to the letter of April 21 and granting approval to rent the
spece requested. .
. In order that the Los Angeles Office may cleerly understend the
Bureau's instructions, it is requested that this office be advised whether or
not the teletype dated April 21 was meant to grant authority to eatebdlish the
microphone surveillance requested in the referenced letter dated April 5, 1945.
