Coleman stated that in March, 1979, her accompanied by Arthur Cheokas, a businessman in Americus, Georgia, of Greek descent, traveled to Rome, where Coleman met with Al-Shahati. Coleman stated that the discussion with Al-Shahati had to do with what he and Carter could supply the Libyan Government with, such as food stuffs and ~~ grains, but Coleman stated he realized that they did not 7 have the necessary experience in international trade to —- handle such matters, and that he informed Al-Shahati that —_ . they would rather be brokers" for an American oil company.
