I was told that MrsgGnau, the woman next to him in Avt.403 hé€rd it all - the terrible obscene language the man wzs using and the woman screaming, ahd ran down and reported it to the manager - Phelps = in the office, He at once called policemen. Twelve ~- I was told = came and took old Hawkins - covered with blood - to jail. Later. ambulance came to get the gizl's body. It was all cut up and Aerribly mutilated. Her mouth cut from ear to ear. Hawkifis™- c ed up - was let out by the sheriff and allowed to come back here to live as though nothing had happened. He's been going and coming ever since - so I'm told - and the second murder in L.A. within the past week - Feb.I0th~ has all the earmarks of his dirty work. Now, I do not know whether or not this matter/has been taken care of by any investigators. The police appear to be doing nothing in regard to it.
