note which said the murderer had
changed his mind about giving
himself up.
A.previous communication had,
said the slayer of the 22-year-old
beauty would give himself up at
"10 am. today. The hour came
and went without anything hap-
pening.
New Note Sent
Early this afternoon Capt. Jack
‘Donahue of police homicide bu-
reau received a note. It was ad-
dressed to him and said:
“T have changed my mind about
surrendering. I’m afraid I won't}
get a fair deal.”
The note was composed of le|
ters and words cut from news
papers, as were several previot
