PART IT
The following is a summary of BPP activities in
the Charlotte Division:
The Free Breakfast for Children Program continued
to function during May, 1972, with increased local community
support. BPP members announced this program would operate
until the close of school, 6/5/72. With increased donations,
MARY NC DONALD who heads the program announced they were
able to feed between fifteen and twenty children daily during
the month of May, 1972.
RUSSELL MC DONALD took over the Free Pest Control
Program during May, 1972, and continued its operation within
the black community surrounding BPP Headquarters.
During May, 1972, the Winston-Salem Chapter of BPP
became more active in local politics and actively supported
Congresswoman SHIRLEY CHISHOLM for President. NELSON MALLOY
and HAZEL MACK both BPP officers ran for positions on the
Democratic Party Precinct Committee. HAZEL MACK was elected
to the committee, however, MALLOY was disqualified because
he had' not been registered in that precinct for the required
thirty days prior to the election.
