EDWARD\MC DONALD, who was formerly associated with the Black Panthek Party (BPP) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was making inquiries to determine if there were pny BPP activities in the Lumberton, North Carolina, area. 4 ) A characterization of the BPP is attached as an 7; appendix to this memorandum. CE T-2 advised on January 11, 1974, that a meeting was held by MC DONALD in Lumberton, North Carolina, ostensibly for the purpose of organizing a BPP chapter, but CE T-2 believed at the real prrpose of the meeting was to insure the eel : CE T-1 stated on accep ers that at a meeting of Negroes on the night of ary 9, » MC DONALD stated he tried to form an organization similiar to the BPP in Winston-Salem because such an organization would give Negroes greater economic power and also enable them to obtain additional benefits from the City of Lumberton. sega gt" THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS NEITHER RECO MENDATIONS NOR CONCLUSIONS OF THE FBI.
