Martin, Winston- Salem, North Carolina, Resident Agency, was subpoenaed by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office to appear in local superior court, Winston-Salem, at 9:30 am, 9/20/71 (Monday), as defense witness for local BPP leaders. Defendants to be tried concerning charges of theft of meat truck which ended with shoot-out with Winston- Salem police. Testimony desired of SA Martin is unknown since he was only an observer to exchange of gunfire. Assistant U.S, Attorney (AUSA) Cameron stated he would contact U,S, Attorney, Middle Distri¢t of North Carolina, and consider requiring cause for testimony prior to SA Martin's appearance, Defense attorney in case is believed engaging in delaying tactics and/ or attempting to "try the system" and has subpoenaed other local police authorities as witnesses for the defense.
