NON-BPP COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
LEE FAYE MACK, self described as advisor to the Winston-
Salem, North Carolina, BPP Chapter, is employed as Neighborhood
Coordinator in the Planned Variations Section of Winston-Salem,
North Carolina, Model Cities Program. MACK was appointed to thi
position by the mayor of Winston-Salem. The Model Cities
Program is Federally funded; however, the exact amount of
Federal funds available in the Winston-Salem, N.C., area is
unknown at the present time. Mrs. MACK does not hold a decision
making position regarding how funds are spent within the program,
and there is no indication at this time of BPP efforts to subver
the activities of the Model Cities Program or to control its
‘unds.
~ SPEECHES
The Winston-Salem BPP Chapter sponsored a Survival
Day Rally on 12/17/72 at Winston-Salem, North Carolina. LARRY
LITTLE, Head of the BPP, spoke to a crowd of approximately 700
persons about the opposition of the black peo ye to the seemingl
growing instances when confrontations with police have resulted.
LITTLE spoke of Oppression and obvious, intentional harassment
by the local police agencies. LITTLE stated that the BPP has
come a long way from guns to shoes and he expects greater things
in the days to come. LITTLE further advised that members of the
BPP would be running for local office in the Winston-Salem, N.C.
area and urged those assembled to assist in the party's efforts i
to obtain power for the people.
