The North Carolina Chapter of the BPP held funeral serviccs for WADDELL in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on June 21, 1972. LARRY LITTLE was in charge of funeral services and a taped eulogy for WADDELL was delivered by BOBBY ‘SEALE, Chairman of the BPP. Following the funeral LARRY LITTLE announced that the BPP was sponsorin; demonstration at Central Prison on Sunday, June 25 fo92, to focus attention on the death of WADDELL and con, itions in the North Carolina prison. LITTLE stated + the denfonstration would be peaceful LITTLE also stated GOLDEN/FRINKS, Field Secretary of the Southern Christian Leader'ship Conference and BENJAMIN/CHAVIS, Assistant Director of the North Carolina - Virginia Committee for Racial Justice would participate in the demonstration. BPP FORTIFICATIONS On June 1, 1972, information was received that there have been no recent incidents or arrests of BPP members for carrying weapons. The BPP Chapter in Winston-Salem no longer maintains an armed guard at BPP Headquarters as they did in the past and there was no information indicating the BPP maintained any sort of weapons or explosive devices in BPP Headquarters, On June 12, 1972, information was received that 1306-A Underwood Street was periodically used by BPP members, however, it was vacant as of that date. This residence contained no fortifications or protective devices and the BPP maintained no firearms or other weapons at this apartment. 11
