UP STATES DEPARTMENT "Ome FEDERAL BUKEAU OF INVESTIGATION In Reply, Ploase Refer to Charlotte, North Carolina File No. August 23, 1969 PROPOSED DEMONSTRATION AUGUST 23, 1969, BY BLACK PANTHER PARTY CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA RACIAL MATTERS A source, who has furnished reliable information 4n the past, advised on August that a demonstration which had been scheduled for August 16, 1969, by members of the Afro-American Unity Organization, an organization which is attempting to affiliate with the Black Panther Party, has been rescheduled for Saturday, August 23, 1969. Source advised that the proposed demonstration is scheduled to begin at approximately 11:00 a.m. and will consist of a march of Charlotte, North Carolina, Negro citizens from the Charlotte Post Office to the Charlotte Centennial Building on East Trade Street, a distance of approximately four blocks.
