i i i ence ae he Ns Aaroelius, as pres RE MEETING SPONSORED BY BPP CONCERNING GREENSBORO REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Redevelopment Project. Mr. BROOKS claimed that this group of merchants had tried to form a Black Businessmen’s Association so that they would have borrowing power in order to get the bleck merchants back in business. The Redevelopment Commission hed turned them down, according to Mr. BROOKS, Mr. KENNETH LEF, 2 Negro attorney, then spoke briefly amt explained how the Redevelopment Commission had gone about obtaining the property on which the new A & P Store on East Merket Street is presently located. A few Negro males and females ip the audience asked core -piestions and then finally 9 Mr. BROWN, who represented the Srecashorve Redevelopment crmissiou, tried to t2lk. The pecple dic ect vant to hear him. They said that if Mr. BARKLEY was not there, then they did net want to hear enyone else from the Redeveloprent Commission. No white members cf the Redevelopment Cammission were in attendance and Mr. BROWN was apparently the only member who was there and he was a Negro. The Chairman then asked everyone present te sign 2 petition that would be presented to the Redevelopment Commission expressing the demands and views as far as the actions of the Redevelopment Commigsion were concerned. HOWARD4 FULUER, the Negro militant from Durham, North pent wund he talked. FULLT-2°S remarks were by far the most inflammatory, according to T-1, dhe stated, “you see, you asked The Man to come to the meeting and he didn’t, so Jets go to him. When The Man asks you to move, then just dons move. Form a group that just will refuse to move.” This was the gist of the remarks by FULLER and he did art some response from the crowd. There were a number of Negra wales tu the audience whe were obviously members of the Black Panther Party wearing Rls’ k Perther jackets and tams. 4J
