Aftermath Of Bombing
(Father William James, Diocesan Confra-
ternity Director, here writes of what he wit-
nessed and felt immediately after the bomb-
img of a Negro Baptist Church in Birming-
ham last Sunday morning. Father James hap-
pened to be travelling just three blocks
away when the bomb went off. He is a native
ef Birmingham.)
It sounded like a score of supersonic jet
planes had simultaneously broken the sound
barrier People poured from their homes to
sean the sky. The almost deserted Sunday
morning strecis quickly became crowded with

ing and into which ambulance drivers and
others were already going.
About ten cars parked next to the side en-
trance of the church looked Ike they had been
dragged there from a sunk yard. One of them,
seemingly blown out into the middle of the
street, was a pitiful sight. Rocks and large
