BOMBING OF 16th STREET
BAPTIST CHURCH,
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA
SEPTEMBER 15, 1963
BOMBING MATTER
Deputy Attorney General Katzenbach called me shortly
before 8:00 p.m., 9-15-63, and expressed his interest in instant
bombing. I assured him that the Bureau considered this a most
heinous offense and that we had entered the investigation with
no holds barred.
Mr. Katzenbach indicated that he had talked to Negro
leaders at Birmingham including Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.,
and his brother Reverend A, D. W. King and urged them to see to
it that anyone with information should come forward with the
information to the FBI,
Mr. Katzenbach was pleased with the information that
we had gone all out on this investigation. /
