addition, 16 persons were injured. These consisted of
9 Negro males, 5 Negro females and 2 white females.
The rear end of the church was badly damaged. A. cs f
fire marshal in Birmingham advised that in his opinion, :
approximately 10 sticks of dynamite had been dropped on the road
surface near the church and ignited with a fuse-type igniter. .-
He estimated the damage to the church at $20,000 to $80,000.
Our Birmingham Office imsediately instituted‘a-.° 2
fail investigation into this bombing. Investigation is proceeding
with all possible speed and the Department will be advised of. -:
pertinent developments. .
