¢ This case involves the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist
Church, Birmingham, Alabama, on 9/15/63, resulting in the death
of 4 Negro girls, injury to 16 other persons, and approximately
$30, 000 damages to the church.
The possibility of successful Federal prosecution
was prejudiced by premature arrests of Chambliss, Cagle and Hall by the
Alabama Highway Patrol (AHP). Thousands of interviews have been
conducted and results of investigation, which still continues, are contained
in 36 file sections.
