S, Attorney MalcolmWeaver concerning rumor: oating throughout the White and Negro sections of Birmingham relative to the . mbing and that he, Tudge Allgood, had stated these rumors should be squelched, his information is set forth in memorandum of 9/20/63 to Mohr from MeLoach, copy of which is attached, SAC Moore advised the Birmingham Office received a telephone call from U. S. Attorney Weaver concerning making a newspaper release and he was advised “i that the FBI was not ioining in any release of information to the newspapers. At a | that time U. S. Attorney Weaver made a specific request to talk to SAC Moore, he was making a joint release with the police and Sheriff's office scotching the rumors that had been floating in Birmingham concerning the bombing. Weaver | told Moore that he had wanted to talk to Moore concerning the basic facts of the bombing; however, he had obtained his information from other agencies and news~ papers and asked Moore for no facts whatsoever.
