In connection with the arrangements to have Special Agen
GRD voc ced to Nashville for the purpose of conducting an interview
“a Student who allegedly was in the vicinity of the bombed church at about
12:30 a.m. to about 1:00 a.m., Sunday morning, arrangements were made
to have him proceed to Nashville, where he will arrive at 10:30 a. m.,
Nashville time (Central Standard Time)—12:30 (Washington time).
I went over the information which we had received and briefed him
in connection with the interview and his activity for about an hour. I believe
that the time spent with him was desirable; first, because he is a relatively
new Agent and, secondly, because of the importance of this assignment. It
is noted that he, after our discussion, indicated that he was highly honored in
being asked to carry out this assignment.
Arrangements were made for him to be met at the airport at
Nashville by two Agents. They in turn will bring him up to date on any j
current developments. The Birmingham Office was instructed to have L
available $200 in the event it was necessary for him to carry out any
} immediate assignment which would require the payment of money on the spot.
It was also pointed out to Agent BF 2t we did not know whether
this lead would be productive or not, but we wefe treating it on the basis that
‘the boy was in a position to furnish information and consequenth x“
should be ready to consider offering money to the student in the eVent -
‘an inducement was necessary or desirable. It was pointed out
that we consider this a most important case and consequently we
position to offer a sizable amount of money in the event information was :
