You and your organization of skilled investigators have brought back the respect and admiration to the FBI that was lost with the reign of the selfserving Edgar Hoover. The FBI's great accomplishments with the "ABSCAM" project has lit the "Lamp of Hope" that now something is being done to assure the Tax-payer that the “Elected or Ap- pointed" individual will perform their duties honestly,diligently and to the best interest of our country. Too many individuals enter government servise with the prime purpose of using the "Power" of thier Office for personal gain believing that the "Political" position gives them licenses to steal, accept graft and gifts while neg- t lecting the purpose and responsibilities of their office or job. We elect them and : support them with our tax dollars believing that they will honestly, live up to their promises only to learn later that they betrayed their word and our trust. They should also ieyéd from their ill-gotten gains with this money being put into a fund to further support the FBI's activities. Further, these wrong-doers should be fined no less than $10,000.00 plus the court and government costs incurred in proving their guilt.
