They shall however be carried thru at an early date and not left to the last minute.) | The previous experiences of state and local hunger marches have shown the possibility of attack on the part of the armed forces and of the fascist groups on the National Hunger March. Already the American Legion has had a special meeting in *ashington, and took up the question of the National Hunger March and discusses ways and means of breuking up the march. We must be thoroughly pre- oared for an attack. The attack can be expected as follows: 1. In many localities an open attack by the state and city police on the usrch. 2. The organization of fascist groups, anericun Legion, etc., to at~ tack the marchers. 3. Re-route the marchers outside the city limits in order to avoid passing thru important cities. 4. Picking on little details, as overcrowded trucks, etc., to bresh up the march. 5. To demoralize the march in Washington proper thru either an open attack or other ways, such as denial of housing accomodations thru all kinds of excuses, etc. 6. Splitting up of the main colwm on the route and thus demoralizing the effectiveness of the march. In order to withstand all possible attacks. by the city, stute und nat- ional government, we must take immediate orgunizational steps to »sro- tect the National Hunger March ind organize defense groups to defend the March from all possible attacks. The following steps shall be taken and carefully prep tred: l. Right after the conference waere the delege will be elected, s meeting of all delegates shail be held and the dele assigned to trucks. While dividing the delegates s ion must be given to assigning to every truck 3 cosrade leus for defense work, whose tisk it is to do una inv. workers in defense. tinerever possible these 3 comrades shall be ex-servicemen, or physicially fit for this sork. 2. A special meeting of the comrades assigned for defense Ll he held where the duties and tasks shall be expluined and detailed instructions given. 3. Every district division shull assign a defense work, who in turn shall be in c se groups on the trucks. Comrades res; shall sit in tae front of the truck with the driver 4.
