Sweet, Attorney-at-Law, 360 H. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, called at thie office on September ?, 1932, being referred here by United States Attommey Dwight H. Green, with reference to sone information which ho hed relative to conmnistic activities and a further merch to Washington by bonus cdvocates, Mr. Sweet stated that he was a patent attorney, ras a@ member of the bar in Chiougo, and had previously been employed by the Bureau of Standardz, Washington, D.C. in 1915 and 1916, and by tho Patent Office in Laehington, D.C. from 191€ to 1919; that he we presently engaged in the practice of patent law at Chicago, Tilinois, ‘ and recently took a trip to North Dakota and South Dakota for the pur- : pose of forming independent grocers ond tradesmen. On this trip he became acquainted with one Charles Stevens, Vice-President of the Ferners Union of North Dakota, and who Operates u gasoline filling station 15 Valley City, North Dakota. Mr. Sweet stated thet in con- versation with Mr. Stevens he loarned that Stevens was very votive in . organizing ex-service men and unemployed men, as well as farmrs in \. the community, to form anuther expedition to march to Vashington to advocete passage of the soldiers’ bonus; tht their plans are to obtain recruits in North and South Dakota and al] through the Mississippi River Valley so that if possible thousands of ex-service nen us well oa un- employed tredesmen and farmers will march to Washington within the next thirty or sixty days. Mr. Sweet said that no definite date had been arranged, but that during bis trip to North and South Dakota he eard considerable concerning this march and believes that a large number of persons will be reoruited.for a further mirch to “ashington.
