today the most sinister cargo of;

Manacled in pairs, 53 of the na-
tion's worst desperadoes, among
them the once powerful “Scarface
Al" Capone, stepped — sulenly
ashore and marched to their cells
amid a sudden, ironic burst of
sunshine that ’ bared the full
beauty of the hills and the bay
and the skyline that many of
these men will never see again ex-
cept from behind bars.
