Doc has not as yet teft. He has been closeted with the warden an hour and = half! An usual procedure, all later agree! And ell wonder: ihat did he say? Did he trade his freed for all he knew about Capone and every man on his pay roll? For after all, wo renoxber, he had never been punisied for his misdeneanors and consections. Innate Sellers, we argue, rather than divulge fram where he had received the $50.00 bill he was caught with, after being dressed out and ready to step out the front gate, Christmas week 1933, was led back into the insti- tution, forfeited his Good Time, and defied all efforts of the officials +0 force him to incriminate others, sneluding the donor of the $50.00 bill! Dec, ve know, had secreted on his person not less than ten fifty dollar bilis. He dared not trust these to be posted since there would be no opportunity for him to complain if they were not. Since the Sellers’ incident every discharged inmate is thoroughly end shamefully examined before he puts on his “going out" clothes -- which, too, are minutely exanined, Doc's dream. . . his life-long drean at last realized! & shining new Buick, a chauffeur at the wheel, and a worar reclining in the resr, spacious, beautifully upholstered seat, await Doc as he casts off his number, resunes « now nano, and leaves the penitentiary grounds.
