In addition, the Salt Lake City Division ,- Tequests authority to place a technical on the office of the Trans-American News Service which is soon to be put in operation in Las Vegas by Siegel and hie associates. \ ALL TNFORMATTOS COB BACKGROUND As a result of recent information received by the Los Angeles Field Division concerning "Bugs" Siegel, a strong recommendation was made by Special Agent in Charge Hood of the Los angeles Field Division to place a technical on the residence of "Bugs" Siegel and Virginde#fTl at the Last Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Siegel and Hill intend to reside permanently. AS a result authority was tranted to install this technical; it was indtalled on November 30, 1946. The Salt Lake City Field Division points out at this time that in order to adequately cover the extent of Siegel's activities it would be desirable to re- install the technical surveillance at the "boiler room" above the Las Vegas Club. Previously authority had been granted to place a technical surveillance at this club on July 8, 1946, and installation wes subsequently made and discontinued on October 17, 1946. In addition, the Salt Lake City Division has advised that the Trans-American News Service is going to be put in operation within the very near future in Las Vegas by Siegel and his associates. This service will be established in the two rear rooms on the second floor of the Golden Nugget Club, located at Second and Fremont Streets, Las Vegas, Nevada. It is pointed out by the Salt Lake City Division that based on Siegel's past activities, the technicals on the above will assure ample coverage for all of Siegel's activities.
