the following day the matter was dropped until further contact sould be
had with the Bureau Agents in San Franoisco,
Tnoidental ly QP mentioned the fact that one of the Bureau pre
Agents of the Los Angeles office possessed one of the C.P.A. files which
had been loaned to him in connection with an investigation.
On the fol} day, August 20, 1916, the C.P.A.
office contacted Agen’ and stated confidentially tha was @
+ Little upset over the igation being conducted by the Bureau in regard
to instant mtter, being apprehensive that some member of his office had bre
neglected to conduct a proper investigation or had been guilty of some
improper conduct in connection with the Sovestige tion. Qe informed
that it was impossible for Agents to disolose the nature Purpose of
the investigation being conducted but that as far a ie Agent knew the
investigation did not concern the activities o: particular office.
