Your letter of September 22nd has been received.
The FBI does not have any publications regarding
Al Capone or any photographs of bim for distribution; however,
you may wish to refer to "Ihe FBI Story, "a book written by
Don Whitehead, which contains some data relative to him. You
may be able to obtain a copy of it at your school or public library.
For your information, Capone was sentenced on
October 24, 1931, for violation of the Federal income tax laws
which do not come within the investigative jurisdiction of the
FBL He was released from the Federal Correctiona! Institution,
Terminal Island, California, on January 19, 1939, and died on
January 25, 1947, at Palm Island, Miami, Florida.
Enclosed is some literature which I hope you will
find of interest.
