He said that he did not feel that he could place the witnesses under oath on September 5, 19/6 since the September 5th hearing would be a continuation of the August 13th hearing at which time witnesses were not placed wider oath and it would seem strange if he his own initiative ask that w: testifying, suggested that we might hav do this and 0. ~ I would consult the Bureau on er Uefore we make «@ request o: At 9:00 P.M, on September , 19146, Special Agent in Charge KIMBALL, of an called me and said that SIEGEL, VIRGINIA HILL, ere at the Saint Francis Hotel; that SIEGEL reserva r 61x people at the Saint Francis Hotel for 1:00 P.M., September 4th, and when he had not arrived by 6:00 P.M, the hotel cancelled the reservations. SIEGEL grrived at the hotel at about 7:30 P.M. and bre insisted on accommodations. The management refused to take oare of SIEGEL and his party until the agents intervened and then the management agreed that they would place SIEGEL and his party in rooms at the hotel in order that the Agents would not have to surveil them around San Francisco while they sought accommodations. Mr. KIMBALL pointed out that under this arrengenent we are not able to fully cover SIEGH,'s sotivities, but the management said that if he stays over the evening of September 5, 196 they will place SIEGEL and his party in other rooms which will permit us to ascertain their complete activities. Mr. KIMBALL likewise advised tha +t the Whitcomb Hotel at San Francisco, along w: that this hotel is located about two blocks ffom oPeAs bu ad. que 3 1355 Market Street.
