He asked the writer i an eo not considered to be legitimate and the writer was non- co! . dvised that he would not go so far as to say that SIEGEL was ‘engaged in Yilegal activities at this point, but added that certainly SIEGEL “was tough" and was in the rackets. br s advised that no further discussion would be had with him concerning underworld activities if he were to talk to other people and he immediately advised that he certainly would be foolish to let anyone know that he was being contacted by Bureau Agents because members of the underworld would feel that he was furnishing informtion to the Bureau. In this connection he added that he liked SIEGEL and that at this point he did not care to furnish any informa- tion concerning him bec m though he knew SIEGEL was carrying on "in the rackets" he “ikedhn Al ects nes this relationship further, advising that there is certain association tween persons which is unexplainable and that the writer could consider SIEGEL as possibly "a prostitute ing illegally but still is 1 However, he added tha activities should be thoroughly checked by the Bureau because apparently he has no gainful tion and has a lot of money. 8: of ity towarcs b2 and when the writer explained jas making is money from bookmaking and gamblin, ould not possibly make the money he is making gambling. —
