When I was in New York recently talking with Mr. McCarthy of the King Features Eyndicate, he indicated that Mr. White might cell at the Bureau and rejuest you to place him in touch with Mr. Irey. You will recall that efforts were made to make an appointment for Mr. Mc- Carthy to see idr. Irey when Mr. dcCarthy was in the city. Mr. Lewis knew nothing of the background of the Capone case c ang I gave hin no information with respect to your conversation > with Messrs. Lait and uwcCarthy other than to state that they talked 4 with you about the Capone case and were acvised by you that the real Capone story was not contained in tne files of this Bureau but that Colonel Woodcock and ‘ir. Irey might be able to furnish data concern~ pen ing angles of the Capone case oandled by their services. Mr. Lewis appeared to be entirely satisfied with this statement and indicated at he would contact Mr. Irey and Colonel Woodcock. He stated he did not believe tnat the Contempt of Court angle would be of any particular interest but, if so instructed by the New York headquarters, he might return with a request for informetion concerning the Contempt of Court angle from this Bureau.
