Kine shots were fired, five of which hit Siegel. Both of his eyes were shot out. One of the bullets burned the coat of Allen Smiley who was sitting next to Siegel and who in being held as a material witness. Mr. Hood st-ted that Siegel, Virgil Mill, her brother Charles Hill, her secretary Gerry Mason and Smiley had been at the beach near Santa Monica and bad returned to Virginia Hill's home not long before the shooting occurred.
