It was stated that these. cartridge cases were found on the crounds at the scene of the murder of captioned subject in Beverly Hills, California on June 20, 1947. The Laboratory was requested to examine these cartridge gases for possible comparison purposes at a later date with firearms of the same caliber. Br letter dated October 2, 1947,-the Bureau advised that an examina 2 had Seen made of these cartridge cases aad it was de- termined thet marks on the cases were sot sufficientl: distinct for comsarison with test specimers from suspected carbines. A few simi — larities were found between the extractor marks on two cases but Hi the, were of such a nature that it was not possible to identif, these cases as having »een loaded into or extracted from the same weapon. It was stated that it may be possible to identify the ex- tractor marizs on these cases from tests of suspected weapons.
