It is easy to do so since I thought quite simply that Monticello was one of the most civilized & ~- beautiful houses I had ever seen & the most c. & b. anyone had ever built for himself. About the University of Virginia it is hard to speak unless one falls back on merely saying it is a triumph. Or, more important, worthy of the man that one hour in Monticello had made me love. @jjwcapacity was only, it seemed to me, exceeded by his taste. It particularly struck me (as a detail only) that he achieved regularity without repetition. (The cimymetry of the 2 main sides of the campus.) - "I f you wid. like me to come & see you & yr. husband I wid. ve mich like to & I now have a good car. $o it only needs me being told where.
