In my memorandum to you of January &, 1954,
I pointed out the facts concerning the access MacLean
had had at the Atomic Energy Headquarters in Pashtng ton.
I stated that we did not Know of any connection Burgess
had had with matters dealing wits: atomic enersy and
during the period he was stationed in the Inited States,
from August, 1950, to Key, 1952, hie responst ilitics
were in the Far Kastern Affatrs Deparirent of the
British Mmbasoy. Hhas been
contacted and states, insofar as ke knows, Burgess
did not have any access to the Atomic Energy liead=
quarters. There is no record of burgess ever having
been in the Atontc Energy butlding in Fishington, D. C.
