The subjects’ press statement admitted they had been communists since college days but denied being Soviet agents. Tne author also then continued in the same vein as in previous installments }\2y ratsing a number of questions concerning U.S. ang (british angles and why such countries have not fully and publicazviy explored tne subjects’ activities and associates. It is stated that case after case has justi fied suspicion by associations that subjects were not alone as they were communists and thetr operations were centered on America. Several questions were raised concerning the part played by the subjects in the Korean War and why such had not been publicetly explored. ( 6) OBSERVATION: - ll: This case was primarily a British one and of necessity major” portion of investigation conducted in England. We possessed noderogatory information re subjects prior to their disappearance from England iiay, 1951. We interviewed a number of contacts of subjects in this country, none of which furnished information indicating any knowledge that subjects may have been engaged in subversive activities. We prompt know of subjects’ activities prior to their being assigned to this firesae ed Jacts in case to appropriate Government agency. From what country, a routine investigation would have made them ineligtble for —_— ae Government employment according te our standards.
