He said the Times is taking ‘'a new look" at the gess-MacLean espionage FBI's role in this espionage cdse and wondered if we could give him any guidance or assistance regarding these inquiries. ; om . was told that it was most unlikely the Bureau could be of any service whatsoever, but thatthe material would be reviewed and he would be contacted.' said he and other members of the London Times staff done extensive work in the Middle East and in England on this case and had gotten some assist- ance from British intelligence on a background basis. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended thasi@ABaW attached questions regarding the Burgess-MacLean case be referred to the Domestic Intelligence Division for review and analysis.
