The article reported that Professor Albert Einstein during the week of January 3-10, 1947, defbared himself strongly in favor of the Communist Party of France and its program. It also stated that Einstein had often been found among the ranks of "deluded liberals" who front for the Communists. The article mentioned that a statement of Einstein's appeared in the French Communist newspaper "Ce Soir", published in Paris, in which Einstein criticized various activities of the U.S. The above information is evaluated in this report as having been received from a usually reliable source whose information was probably true. The above summary was transmitted to the Bureau by a letter from Head- quarters, Military District of a Washington, Washington, D. C. Ae we dated January 10-1947.
