He was permitted to view the main cell block and walk through the dining room. He viewed a cell block which 1s no longer used because of its deterioration and he was very interested in this cell block. He asked many questions about the history of Alcatraz. The prison officials gained the impression that Pearson was not interested in the escaped inmates or the investigation to locate them. He appeared interested in the operation of the penitentiary and indicated that it sbould be maintained in better condition. It appears that Pearsan. will do one or more articles on Alcatraz Penitentiary.
