About this time, Clarence Anglin made a gecond dummy head of cement which was stored on top of the cell block next to the roof. This one was called "Qscar" and was to be given to Frank Morris. Then Clarence Anglin and Frank Morris went up the utility corridor next to the roof on about three evenings and they took the coup- ling out of the roof hole and from the ventilator. They put frease around it so-14 would slide out easily and replaced it so that no one would notice anything amiss. While working around the cell block area painting, aq no- ticed that bolts in certain instances were screwed in a tapin and were not bradded. He thus believed that this type of bolt could be loosened and ‘therefore, since this was a type on a lid cover- ing the vential le to the roof, they would be able to remove that lid.
