This raft was being made from inmate raincoats. recalled piecing together some nine three-foot sections of the raft. He advised that the raft was assembled in the cell of one of the escapees. He volunteered that although it had been assembled, no one had ever tested it to see if 1t were seaworthy. He said that MORRIS had taken his concertina, which he had changed to resemble a bellows, and that it was to be used for inflating the reft. GERBER cavises that only the four of them on 8 8 i them, nor they assisted in the escape. — WRB volunteered that although some of the other inmates might have known that something wa on, he knows of none of them who actually knew that he, ORRIS and the two ANGLIN brothers planned to escape from Alcatraz.
