temperature in San Francisco Bay was 54 «degrees and that
aman, even in excellent physical condit:ion, could not
remain in this cold water longer than 35: minutes without
seriously affecting his body functions.
Extensive and exhaustive investtigation was con-
ducted at the time of the escape and cov-ered all the waters
of the bay, harbors, shorelines, marinas, and yacnt basins
and failed to develop even the slightest. evidence to establish
the inmates could possibly have reached wne mainland.
Wanted flyers and IOs have beem in existence on
the Subjects since their escave. Much piblicity has been
given to tus case over the years and no :positive information
has ever been developed the Subjects survived the escape
attempt.
Relatives contacted over the years have all re~
ported they believe the Subjects are dead and feel active
investigation by the Federal Government to locate them at
this time is futile ane unnecessary.
Even though this case is being considered closed
as far as active investigation is concerme., wanted flyers
an@ 19s will remain in effect and all S$ ects are currently
listed in NCIC. In the evont any vositi:ve information is
: ever developed regarding this matter, tic case, of course,
: woudl be immediately reopened and investigation pursued.
