Phila, File (ova Copies of this report are being furnished to the Huntington Field Division which by teletype dated lay 26, 1942, requested informa- tion gn the Averican Friends Service Committee and its alleged officers, Rel ee rand eRe, Investigation of the American Friends Service Committee conducted by the Philadelphia Police Department hay 14, 1942, reflected that the Committee is a charitaole organization supported by the Quakers and Friends of this country and in several other parts of the world. Information contained in the files of the Philedelphia Field Division reflects that the organization was founded in 1917 and represents the Society of Friends and Quakers in the field of social action. I+ also enlists all other like-minded people of all denominations. The Committee hes served as a relier agency to alien refugees, regardless of race, creed or color. Prior to the entry of the United States in the present war, representatives of the organization were outspoken in their declnretion that they conscientiously objected to active participation in the var by the United States and were in favor of 2 negotiated peace. The Comnittee has been very cooperative in furnishing information concerning conscien- tious objectors to the Philadelphia Field Division. It is presently concerned with aiding aliens, but wishes to cooperate with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. o Information received from Confidential Informant oR, whose identity is knovm to the Bureau, is set forth as follows: The American Friends Service Committee had stated that Japa- nese American collere students vacated from the Pacific Coast will have an opportunity to continug their studies in inland universities and colleges.
