AMERICAN FORUM FOR SOCIALIST EDUCATION,
Also known as American Forur
According. to an article appearing in the May 13, 1957,
issue of the “Dailiv Worker.” page 1, colutn 2, A. J, Muste,
"well known pacifist," announced the formation of the American
Forum for Socialist Education (AFSE). According to this article,
.the American Forum seeks to promote "study and serious untran-
>e-e*"" gpeled political discussions among all elements that think of
themselves as related to historic socialist and labor traditions,
values and cbhjectives... however deep and bitter their differ-
ences may have been.” The article reflects that among other
purpeses, the AFSE seeks to call attention to the various
publications of the groups whose‘people engage in discussion;
to publish bulletins or pamphlets; to organize regional and
~ pational conferences; contribute to the building of new morale
and ethic, a spirit of fair play, labor militancy, determination
and hope among the prcgressive and radical forces in this country.
