The croup will consist of 1+ cxllece students from various statoc including South Carolina. Pickene Moore, a social worker fron Boston {originally from Texas) will be the group'e leader. Ee will te accompanied by his wife, Janct, and two children. ‘+ They all will live in Orangeburg. . The project comes av the invitation of a group of citizens in Orangeburg, and it will act under the direction of the Voter Education Project. ; : Shia ds a project in citizenship training. It will work Srrovsh other organizations in setting up a series of work- shops, designed to increase knowledge on the part of local citizens about local, state, and national go -rnment and to encourage nore effective participation in civie affairs. The project nenbers will aleo participate in various aspects of ~ community life—churches, work projectc, recreation, home vieit~- ing and reetings of other organizations. Since the promotion of frecdom at home and abroad requirer that each c‘’\zen exercise hia rights fully and fears lessly, religious, social and educational agencies in our socicty should advise individuals of their rights and responsibilities and protect the free exeréico of them. The sponsoring organi= rations of this project believe that building stronger democracy and Chrictian brotherhood in our communities is everyone's responsibility. ENCLOSURE
