Because inhuman torture and senseless killing are being carried out by forces armed, ‘armed, uniformed, trained and financed by the United States; Because we believe that all peoples of the earth, including both Americans and non-Americans, have an inalienable right to life, liberty, and the peaceful pursuit of happiness in their own way3 and _ Because we think that positive steps must be taken to put an end to the threat of nuclear catastrophe and death by chemical or biological warfare, whether these result from accident or escalation-- . We hereby declare our conscientious refusal to cooperate with the United States government in the prosecution of the war in Vietnam.
