A source advised of April 20, 1865, that the
Progressive Labor Party (PLP) fermcrly known as the
Progressive Laker Movement (PLY}, held its first national
ccnvertion April 15-18, 1965, at Kew yerk City, to orgeérize
the Pi2i into the PLP, The PLD will have as its ultimate
objective the estcblishucrt ef a militant working clzss
wovement based on Karxism-Lerinisn. :

The “kew York Times," April 26, 1965, page 27,
reported that a new part of “revolutionary socialisn" was
formally founded on April 18, 1265, under the nane of the
PLP, The PLD was described as an ‘outgrovth of the PL
Its officers were identified as Hiltor Rosen of New York,
Presidert, and Willian Fptcn cf New ¥Yerk ard Mort Scheer of
San Francisco, Vice Presicerts. A 20-member National
Committce was elected to direct the Party until the next
conventicn.
7 According to the article, "The Progressive Labor
Movement was fourded in 19652 by lir. Rosen end Mr. Scheer
after they were expelled from the Communist Party of the
United States for assertedly following the Chinese Communist
line."
The PLP published "Progressive Labor," a bimonthly
magaizine; “Challenge, a biweekly New York city newpaper;
and "Spark," a west coast newspaper.
The June 1, 1965, issue of "Challenge," page 6,
states, that, "this paper is dedicated to fight for a new
way of life where the working men and women own and control
their homes, factories,-the police, courts, and the entire
government on every level."
: The source advised that the PLP utilizes the
address of General Post Office Box 808, Brooklyn, New York,
but also utilizes an office in Room 622, 132 Nassau Street,
New York City, where the PLP publications are prepared.
