Cc DETAILS PROSECUTION & CONVICTION On May 17, 1960, CARMINE GALANTE surrendered in Federal Court, Southern District of New York, as a result of a secret indictment made public on May 6, 1960, charging GALANTE and twenty-nine other defendants with conspiracy for violation of the Federal Narcotics Laws. Subject pled not guilty before Federal Judge MC GOHEY, Southern District of New York, on May 17, 1960, and the Judge directed the subject's $100,000 bond, which he posted on a prior narcotics conspiracy violation, to cover this present case and he was released pending trial. The first trial, which included the subject ad twenty other defendants, commenced on November 30, 1960, in the Southern District of New York. The presiding judge on January 30, 1961, during the proceedings of the trial, saw fit to revoke bail of all the defendants and remanded them to federal custody.
