Investigation was that the AFSC held seminars in
Washinnton, D. C, the nrst 4 summer-which were attended
by D. C. school teachers. She stated thet she had been
advised by some of the teachers who had attended one of
the seminars that the speaker devoted most of-his time
pointiny out the unfairness of discrimination and hich-
lighted his speech by a tale of a lynchine which took place
in Texas, stating that when the Negro fled in great numbers
to evoid being lynched the white neovle finally refused to
e@llow any more to leave in order to make certrin thet there
would be enough Necroes left to operate the laundries, The
sverker elso vointed to a picture of the Statue of Liberty
before which several white children were pl ng and he

House Committee on Un-Amcrican Activities reflected that
was a sponsor of the Culture] and Seientific
Conference for Vorld Peace held in New York City on Merch,
25, throucsh Merch 27, 1949, This organization, she reported,
was cited by the House Committee on Un-Americen Activities,
She further stated that sne hed been inforacée that
had advised @QRASAMy the meppeaetaaay of
the Borrd of Education fo tnzton, D. C., that ay
had been cleare? the Federal Bureeu or
InvestisAtion. stated that she was aware of
the fnct that the FBI did not give glearances on anyone.
